Horses have been critical partners with humanity for many millennia. Creating a relationship with a horse enhances self-confidence, poise, responsibility, trust, communication, and collaboration. The Equestrian Center offers many opportunities to interact with horses. The Center offers horseback riding lessons, limited horse boarding, and Equestrian Club activities. Horseback riding lessons provide an opportunity for riders at all level, from beginner to advanced, to improve their skills in both English and Western riding styles.

ABOUT OUR FACILITIES
The 25-acre Equestrian Center grounds and facilities include multiple barns, semi- covered paddocks, pastures, two turn out areas, three all weather arenas, a 20 by 60 meter dressage court, and a covered arena. You are welcome to take a tour or visit the Center any day of the week. If you would like a guided tour, please call the Center to arrange a visit.

ABOUT OUR HORSES
The horses used in our lessons have all been donated or loaned to our program. Donated horses vary in breed, age, temperament, size, and ability. If you are considering finding a new home for your horse and would like to consider the option of including it in a well-supervised school-riding program, please contact the UC Davis Equestrian Center. We would be glad to discuss the details of our donation program with you.

RIDING REQUIREMENTS
You must wear long pants, and shoes or boots with a 1⁄2-inch heel, and a helmet at all times when riding. You are not permitted to ride in tennis shoes. We provide safety helmets and have a limited supply of boots for your use.

PRIVATE AND SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS
Private and semi-private lessons can be scheduled depending on horse and instructor availability. Contact the Center for scheduling and more information.

GROUP LESSON MAKE -UP POLICY
No make-up lessons are given.

EXTREME WEATHER POLICY
The covered arena allows lessons to continue during nearly all weather conditions. Students who do not show up to a lesson due to rain or inclement weather, forfeit that lesson unless their instructor cancels the lesson. Rather than canceling the lesson, unmounted lessons are held in cases of severe weather. Only one unmounted lesson per quarter will take place due to these conditions. After the first unmounted lesson, if conditions force the Center to cancel the lesson, the lesson will be made up at the end of the quarter, on the same day and at the same time as the regularly scheduled lesson.
